Greater Spokane League: University rallied from an 8-0 deficit after two innings to grab a 9-8 win over visiting West Valley (6-3). Nick Burger hit a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to score the tying and game-winning runs for the Titans (9-2). Travis Lewis pitched five innings of scoreless relief. He also went 2 for 2 and scored two runs. Ken VanSickle drove in four runs for U-Hi.

Great Northern League: Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) got two dominant pitching performances from Tony Smith and Alex Erickson en rout to two blowout wins at Deer Park (0-9). Smith struckout nine in seven innings in a 13-4 win in the early game, and Erickson tossed a three-hit shutout in a five-inning 14-0 win in the nightcap. Scott Richards, Anthony Froemke and Cody Reeves all collected four hits on the day for the Eagles (7-2).

Boys golf

Greater Spokane League: Seven strokes separated the top three teams as Mead edged Mt. Spokane and Gonzaga Prep in the third GSL event at the par-71 Downriver Golf Course. Tyler Nelson was the only competitor under par and grabbed the medalist score with a 68.

Girls golf

Ladies Stag Spring Kickoff: Mead placed four golfers in the top five to win the 18-team Ladies Stag Spring Kickoff at the Deer Park Golf Course. Northwest Christian’s Lianne Matkin was the medalist with a 3-over-par score of 75.
