Astros 8, Brewers 7: Jason Lane hit a three-run homer in Houston’s five-run seventh inning to lift the Astros to a come-from-behind win over visiting Milwaukee.

Cardinals 2, Pirates 1: Jason Marquis pitched eight innings of three-hit ball and visiting St. Louis defeated Pittsburgh for its third straight victory.

Cubs 4, Dodgers 1: Greg Maddux threw eight innings of three-hit ball in his first start since his 40th birthday and visiting Chicago defeated Los Angeles.

Giants 10, Diamondbacks 9: Mark Sweeney hit a tying two-run homer in the eighth and Steve Finley hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth to lift visiting San Francisco over Arizona.

Mets 4, Braves 3: Carlos Delgado and Xavier Nady each homered and drove in two runs as New York improved the best record in baseball (10-2) and extended the fastest start in franchise history.

Padres 5, Rockies 2: Chris Young pitched seven strong innings and added an RBI double as San Diego defeated host Colorado. Young allowed two runs and five hits to win his second straight start.

Reds 9, Marlins 1: At Cincinnati, Adam Dunn got Cincinnati’s offense rolling with his eighth homer, and left-hander Brandon Claussen pitched seven shutout innings, leading Cincinnati to a victory over Florida.
