The Mead-based Skyhawks organization has been offering summer sports camps for kids for more than two decades. To find out more about the program, go to www.skyhawks.com or call (509) 466-6590. Here’s a glance at some of the camps offered:

Soccer, baseball and basketball academies give young athletes the chance to learn fundamental skills in these sports through fun games, drills and scrimmages. When appropriate, special equipment is used to ensure safety. Participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 10:1 for basketball and baseball and 14:1 for soccer. Camps are typically divided into half-day programs for 5- to 8-year-olds and full-day programs for older students.

Camps are also offered in tennis, flag football, lacrosse, roller hockey, golf, volleyball and cheerleading, all with a focus on building the necessary skills for each sport while emphasizing fun. Beginning golf, for example, uses larger balls and other special equipment to make it easier for young children to succeed.

Multi-sport Mini-Hawk day camps introduce youth ages 4 to 7 to basketball, soccer and baseball. Skyhawks also offers classes for kids as young as 3 and 4 through its Tiny Hawk program.
