Bright spots

First-rate day for secondary

Three players made impressive plays in the secondary Thursday. Cornerbacks Tyron Brackenridge and Don Turner both reeled in difficult interceptions, while safety Michael Willis, coming on strongly in the last week, made another sizeable hit over the middle. Willis appears to be moving up the depth chart, though Eric Frampton’s return from injury in the fall probably leaves Willis looking at second-string duties.

Still a little hazy

Vitality takes short break

Bill Doba admitted that the day’s practice was one of the more lackluster he had seen this spring, although the Cougars head coach said he wasn’t too surprised. “If you polled 90 percent of the teams in this country, the day before their last scrimmage is not going to be very good,” he said. “Everybody is just trying to get through it and not get hurt.”
