Cubs 8, Cardinals 4: At Chicago, Michael Barrett hit a grand slam off Jason Isringhausen in the eighth inning as the Cubs completed a three-game sweep.

Rockies 10, Padres 4: At San Diego, Jason Smith homered twice to help Colorado complete a three-game sweep.

Diamondbacks 7, Brewers 0: At Milwaukee, Claudio Vargas and three relievers combined on a four-hitter to help send the Brewers to their first loss.

Mets 3, Marlins 2: At New York, David Wright hit a tying triple in the seventh and a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Phillies 6-2, Dodgers 3-6: At Philadelphia, Bobby Abreu hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning of the opener for the Phillies. In the second game, Brad Penny threw four-hit ball over seven innings to lead Los Angeles.

Pirates 5, Reds 3: At Cincinnati, Jack Wilson hit a two-run homer and Pittsburgh won its first game of the season.

Giants 6, Braves 5: At San Francisco, Randy Winn blooped a single to drive in the winning run in the ninth.

Astros 7, Nationals 3: At Houston, Andy Pettitte allowed three runs and also had an RBI single and scored a run.
