New Web site joins effort to curb childhood obesity

The Junior League has joined the effort to help parents fight childhood obesity.

The volunteer organization recently launched its Kids in the Kitchen Web site and virtual cookbook. It can be found at: kidsinthekitchen.ajli.org.

The site features kid-friendly, nutritious recipes in five categories: breakfast, lunchbox, dinner, snacks and party treats. And the Junior League has called in help from celebrities, including Fran Drescher, George Stella, David Rosengarten and teen cookbook authors Jill and Megan Carle, who all contributed recipes to the site. There also are tips, quizzes and polls to help children brush up on their nutrition know-how.
