Let Weekenders fashions come to you
When it comes to Weekenders fashion, things are a little more simple.
The store comes to the customer, allowing them to pick out fashions that are simple to organize and easy to take care of, said Sandy Haase, owner of her own business selling fashions from Weekenders.
“It’s a personalized experience for getting clothes,” Haase said. “Rather than buying random pieces of clothing, you actually have a wardrobe plan.”
Haase will visit with an interested customer, showing them fabric samples and allowing them to try on the various clothes. Then the clothes will be ordered and shipped in.
Customers choose outfits in which different pieces can be interchanged with others because they match so well, Haase said. Clothes have simple care instructions that ensure they last for a long time, Haase said.
“All of our garments are designed to work together,” she said. “We have a mix and match concept.”
Weekenders has a few fashion lines, including classic styles and a new Joy Collection, with contemporary looks designed for younger women.
Weekenders also sells some nutrition products.
Haase began her own business recently after quitting a job in what she called the “corporate world.”
“This is an exciting new career opportunity for me,” she said. “It’s a real change from what I’ve been doing before.”
Racecar designers wanted
That drawing that hangs on the fridge could be driving a few hundred miles per hour this November.
Spokane Valley UPS Stores are joining up with other stores across the country to hold a contest in which children age 5 to 12 design and decorate Dale Jarrett’s UPS Store/Toys for Tots No. 88 Ford.
Children can pick up templates online at www.theupsstore.com, and they can submit the entries at either of the two UPS Store locations in Spokane Valley, at 1521 N. Argonne Road or 509 N. Sullivan Road. The deadline for entries is April 29.
The winning drawing will be the design for the stock car, and the winner will be flown to the Pepsi 400 at Daytona to see it. The winner’s school will also receive 10,000 free copies from the UPS Store and a set of school supplies.
Friends plan swap
A mother/daughter team is setting up another chance for families to buy or sell children’s and maternity items in the tradition of Spokane’s famous ski swaps.
The event, Just Between Friends Spokane, will allow families to sell clothes, toys, strollers and more at the Spokane County Fair and Expo center. The families set their own prices, and then receive 70 percent on what they sell. Leftover items are picked up and donated.
The event is next Saturday and April 9, and admission is $2, kids under 12 are admitted free. For more information, visit http://www.jbfsale.com/spokane/ or call 255-JBFS(5237).
