Everett Gallery has a new look after moving from Spokane Valley Mall to a freestanding building on Argonne Road, south of Interstate 90.

“That’s going to work out really well, and it’s really easy to get to,” said Garth Everett, who owns the store with his wife, Roxanne Everett, who runs the gallery. The couple spent about $20,000 to redecorate the building, using crown molding, specialty lighting and black display pedestals. They also purchased additional art and home décor items, including mirrors and candles, quality glasswork and original paintings.

“It has ended up being good for us. Here in the new place we’re right across from Spear’s,” Garth Everett said.

Spear’s Home Furnishings attracts clients who also may be interested in purchasing artwork, he said, including interior designers, Realtors, developers and home buyers.

The gallery, which was in the mall for nearly six years, also has a custom framing business.

Everett Gallery, 1401 N. Argonne Road, is holding a grand opening and framing sale through November. For more information, call 893-3900.

Super 8 wins award

Super 8 Motel in Spokane Valley was recognized for its outstanding customer service by the hotel chain.

The hotel’s staff received the chain’s Golden Pineapple hospitality award. More than 50 nominees were considered for the award, which looked at service and professionalism that goes above and beyond normal job requirements.

The award was presented last week during a regional meeting in Coeur d’Alene.

“It was great. It was the only award presented at the regional meeting,” said Liz Beck, general manager of the hotel.

A corporate news release said the hotel, 2020 N. Argonne Road, was chosen because the staff helped a child who nearly drowned and assisted her family by providing free lodging for the family during the week the child was hospitalized.

Staff also purchased toys for the family’s three children.

Super 8 Motel has 2,100 hotels in the United States and Canada.
