Leaf fest planned at Finch Arboretum

The Fall Leaf Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Finch Arboretum.

The free family event includes a gigantic leaf pile for the kids to romp through, along with arts and crafts projects sponsored by the Corbin Art Center, and hands-on demonstrations and displays by the Washington State University Master Gardeners and Spokane Rose Society.

The Spokane Regional Solid Waste system will provide composting information, and the urban forestry staff will plant a tree and provide an opportunity to learn more about trees and how to plant and care for them.

“ The Cliff/Cannon Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 tonight at Roosevelt Elementary School, 333 W. 14th Ave. City Council candidates for Position 2 – Mary Verner and Dallas Hawkins – will be the guest speakers. Everyone in the district is welcome to attend this meeting.

“ The Latah/Hangman Valley Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 tonight at Tidyman’s on the Cheney-Spokane Road at U.S. Highway 195.

“ The Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Southside Senior Activity Center, 3151 E. 27th Ave.

“The East Central Neighborhood Council will meet at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the East Central Community Center, Fifth and Stone.
