Coeur d’Alene trounces Capital on opening night

Lindsey Stark scored 18 points as Coeur d’Alene cruised to a 57-36 non-league victory over Capital in the girls basketball season opener for both teams in Boise.

Stark hit three 3-pointers and added three assists and three steals for the Vikings, while Jenna Delong scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Steffi Clausen led the Eagles with 11 points.

In other opening-night action, Capital opened a 21-8 first-quarter lead on its way to a 54-37 victory over Lake City in Boise. Richelle Fenenbock had 10 points and hit two 3-pointers for the Timberwolves. … Cassie Scheffelmaier scored 13 points and Hannah Nyrop added nine as Kootenai rallied to defeat visiting Kellogg 33-32 at Harrison. The Warriors trailed by nine points after three quarters before outscoring the Wildcats 16-6 in the fourth. … Timberlake’s Stella Locker equaled Post Falls Christian’s team scoring output with 12 points to lead the Tigers to a 52-12 victory in Spirit Lake. Lauren Brunko added 10 points for Timberlake, which led PFC 31-7 at halftime.
