Site: Darlington, S.C.
Schedule: Friday, qualifying (SPEED, 2 p.m.); Saturday, race (FOX, 4 p.m.).
Track: Darlington Raceway (egg-shaped oval, 1.366 miles, 25 degrees banking in turns 1-2, 23 degrees in turns 3-4).
Race distance: 500 miles, 367 laps.
Last race: Jeff Gordon fought off challenger after challenger on the way to winning the Aaron’s 499. Gordon led 139 of the 194 laps. He finally held off Tony Stewart and Michael Waltrip at the end of a two-lap shootout, set up by a six-car crash with one lap remaining in regulation that ended the chances of Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Last year: Jimmie Johnson got the lead with a fast pit stop and held off a challenge from Bobby Labonte to win the Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 at Darlington Raceway. Labonte was leading by half a straightaway over Kurt Busch with 19 laps remaining before being slowed by a caution flag.
Next race: Chevy American Revolution 400, May 14, Richmond, Va.

Diamond Hill Plywood 200
Site: Darlington, S.C.
Schedule: Friday, qualifying (SPEED, 12:30 p.m.); Friday, race (FX, 5 p.m.).

Race distance: 200 miles, 150 laps.
Last race: Martin Truex won his second consecutive Busch Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. Truex battled back after an early accident damaged his Chevrolet. Then he avoided several other crashes, a flurry of late cautions and survived an intense overtime finish. With Kerry Earnhardt right on his rear bumper, Truex jumped out on the restart of the three-lap overtime and pulled away.
Last year: Greg Biffle overcame a slow pit stop in the early going and drove away with a victory in the Diamond Hill Plywood 200. Biffle beat Roush Racing teammate Jeff Burton to the finish line by 3.115 seconds — a full straightaway on the 1.366-mile, egg-shaped oval.
