Marshall’s record night runs Raptors to victory

Donyell Marshall and the Toronto Raptors went out of their way – way out – to beat the Philadelphia 76ers in Toronto.

Marshall tied the NBA record with 12 3-pointers and the Raptors finished with a league-record 21 in their 128-110 victory over the 76ers on Sunday night.

Marshall was 12 for 19 from 3-point range and finished with a career-high 38 points to help the Raptors match the franchise record for points.

The Raptors, 21 for 34 from 3-point range, broke the previous NBA record of 19 3-pointers set by Atlanta in a victory in Dallas on Dec. 17, 1996.

The two teams combined for an NBA record 31 3-pointers.

Cavaliers 98, Pacers 86: At Cleveland, LeBron James scored 35 points, Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 16 and Cleveland looked sharp in its first game in four days, a victory over Indiana.

Pistons 64, Jazz 62: At Auburn Hills, Mich., Richard Hamilton scored 15 points and Detroit overcome 0-for-15 field goal shooting in the fourth quarter to beat Utah. The teams combined for an NBA-record 18 points in the fourth quarter, breaking the mark of 19 set by Miami and Toronto in the fourth quarter on Feb. 2, 2004.

Nets 98, Magic 82: At Orlando, Fla., Vince Carter scored 33 points and Jacque Vaughn added 22 in New Jersey’s win over Orlando. Jason Kidd added 14 points and 10 assists for New Jersey.

Celtics 105, Wizards 101: At Boston, Ricky Davis converted a three-point play with 21.1 seconds left, and Boston overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat Washington.

Mavericks 102, Timberwolves 93: At Minneapolis, Jason Terry scored 12 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and had 12 assists as Dallas defeated Minnesota.

Rockets 111, Kings 96: At Sacramento, Calif., Tracy McGrady scored 22 points and David Wesley added 21 to help the Rockets win their fourth straight and beat Sacramento.

Clippers 83, Bulls 78: At Los Angeles, Elton Brand scored six of his 20 points in the final 2 1/2 minutes and grabbed 11 rebounds as Los Angeles held off Chicago.

Suns 106, Nuggets 101: At Denver, Steve Nash scored 10 of his 25 points in the final 7 minutes to help Phoenix snap Denver’s eight-game winning streak. Nash also had 11 assists.
