A new full-service spa is offering relaxing Mediterranean moments in the heart of Millwood.

Mosaic SalonSpa recently opened in the former Body Spa location, 2918 N. Argonne Road, after undergoing extensive renovations that covered two floors and 3,400 square feet.

The work transformed the building into a tranquil spa and hair salon that boasts attractive Tuscan colors with Grecian columns and accents.

“There’s a lot going on behind the scenes to make it look so calm and peaceful up front,” said Tahleigha Aitchison, who owns the salon with her husband, Nelson Aitchison.

The couple has operated spas in the Spokane area since 1986, including Mosaic SalonSpa on Southeast Boulevard on Spokane’s South Hill.

“We wanted to be in the Valley, and we’d still like to have a salon on the North Side,” she said.

Although Elaine Couture of North Spokane has been a regular customer at the south salon for the past several years, she gave the new Millwood location a try.

“To me, it’s like going to a spa in downtown Seattle,” she said, adding that both spas have equipment, and services are high quality.

Couture said the Aitchisons stand behind their goods and services, and staff the salon with friendly employees.

“They just always want to do a good job for you,” Couture said. “They make you feel at home.”

Mosaic offers hair and makeup services, manicures, pedicures, facials, body waxing and polishing and cellulite treatments. Some of the massages offered are deep-tissue, hydrotherm, pregnancy and hot stone.

When completed, a wet room will have skin treatments, including mineral glow and rosemary-peppermint body awakening and mud wraps. Treatments finish off with a relaxing rinse, which Tahleigha Aitchison likens to a “warm waterfall.”

A cellulite machine with massive rollers will relax the skin and improve circulation. Customers with muscle and joint problems often comment that they feel better after being under the rollers, Tahleigha said.

Services include Aveda products which have inviting fragrances that relax without overpowering.

Hair services are available in a seven-chair salon. Nelson Aitchison is a cosmetologist with 30 years of professional accomplishments, including traveling the country teaching seminars.

Although Tahleigha Aitchison’s background is skin care, she is a skilled designer who planned the spa down to the tiniest details.

An open design links manicure services with three jetted foot tubs in an adjacent room. The openness lets women getting ready for weddings and proms chat and have fun. The spa works with a caterer when groups want a meal or snack.

Tahleigha said the design reflects changes in the spa business, which is attracting more groups. “We never realized it would become so social.”

Still, those who want a respite from stress will find tranquility in one of two private, candlelit massage rooms, one which has dual massage tables for couples.
