Tigers 12, Twins 6: At Detroit, Craig Monroe had three doubles to lead Detroit, which had a season-high 18 hits in their win over Minnesota.

Devil Rays 7, Orioles 5: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Tampa Bay’s Aubrey Huff hit his first career grand slam and Seth McClung won for the first time in two years in a win over Baltimore.

Athletics 11, Rangers 10: At Arlington, Texas, Nick Swisher drove in four runs with a homer and a double as Oakland beat Texas.

White Sox 8, Red Sox 4: At Chicago, A.J. Pierzynski and Juan Uribe hit two-out, three-run homers off Boston’s Tim Wakefield in the sixth inning for Chicago, helping Jon Garland become the majors’ first 15-game winner.

Royals 5, Blue Jays 3: At Kansas City, Mo., Runelvys Hernandez worked six solid innings to earn his third straight win and carry Kansas City over Toronto.

Angels 6, Yankees 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Adam Kennedy’s two-run single keyed a four-run second inning against Al Leiter as Los Angeles beat New York. Darin Erstad, Chone Figgins and Jose Molina also had RBI singles for the Angels.

National League

Reds 11, Brewers 6: At Cincinnati, Ken Griffey Jr. tied Mickey Mantle on the career RBI list with 1,509, and Adam Dunn drove in three runs with two homers as Cincinnati defeated Milwaukee and earned its season-high third straight victory, despite a 25-minute delay in the seventh inning due to a blown transformer.

Astros 14, Nationals 1: At Washington, Roger Clemens matched his season high with 10 strikeouts over six shutout innings, and Morgan Ensberg, Jason Lane and Mike Lamb drove in three runs apiece to lead Houston past Washington.

Rockies 5, Pirates 3 (10): At Pittsburgh, Colorado’s Todd Helton hit a decisive two-run homer in the 10th inning off Jose Mesa after Pittsburgh had tied it in the ninth.

Phillies 8, Padres 6 (11): At Philadelphia, Chase Utley hit a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning to lead Philadelphia over San Diego.

Dodgers 6, Mets 5: At New York, Jeff Kent homered, doubled and singled, and Jayson Werth added two RBIs as Los Angeles got its third consecutive victory by beating New York.

Cardinals 2, Cubs 1 (11): At St. Louis, David Eckstein’s 11th-inning squeeze bunt – his second game-winning squeeze this month – gave St. Louis the victory over Chicago. Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter and Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano each allowed one run in nine innings.

Diamondbacks 6, Braves 5 (10): At Phoenix, Alex Cintron led off the 10th inning with a pinch-hit, walk-off home run to lead Arizona over Atlanta.

Giants 8, Marlins 5: At San Francisco, Pedro Feliz homered for the third straight game and drove in three runs, while Edgardo Alfonzo and Ray Durham both had two RBIs to lead San Francisco over Florida.
