Rally to be boon for Pocatello
Pocatello, Idaho City officials say the POW/MIA Awareness Rally coming to this town in a few weeks could bring an economic windfall.
The motorcycle rally could bring between 6,000 and 8,000 riders to southeast Idaho when the three-day event opens on July 28.
In past years, the event has been at the Power County Fairgrounds, a more rural area about 25 miles west of Pocatello. Event organizers have contracted to have it at the Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello through 2010.
Hotel rooms are filling up for this year’s event and more vendors have signed up than in past years, said Jim Neal, a Vietnam veteran and the executive director of the rally.
