Phyllis Porath

Sandpoint

Memorial service for Phyllis Elaine Porath, 76, will be at a later date. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Porath, who was born in Richland County, N.D., died Jan. 11.

She attended schools in North Dakota prior to moving to Sandpoint in 1938 and graduated from high school there in 1945 at the age of 17.

She then began working for Loren Pietsch at the Sandpoint News Bulletin and retired from there in 1962.

She had worked as the city clerk for Kootenai, Idaho, and was a caregiver for her mother.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers and collecting antiques, especially bottles.

Survivors include her mother, Elizabeth Porath of Sandpoint; two sisters, Elizabeth Berger of Sandpoint and Shirley Miller of Thompson Falls, Mont.; three brothers, Dennis Porath of Clark Fork, Idaho, and Rodger and Gary Porath, both of Sandpoint.
