Around the Pac-10

The Spokesman-Review

Road teams have been successful during the conference season, going 7-11 entering this weekend’s games. A handful of coaches suggested that league parity has much to do with it, but Washington State’s Dick Bennett suggested otherwise: “Sometimes the attendance in the Pac-10 is not anything special. At USC it was under 3,000, and it’s been that way there. … That isn’t the kind of advantage that you normally (get).” … UCLA is flying high despite falling behind by more than 15 in both games against the Washington schools last week. Furious second-half rallies allowed the first-place Bruins (3-1) to win both games. The Bruins get a stiff test this week, traveling to Arizona and Arizona State. … Lorenzo Romar’s Washington team was the second UCLA victim last week, but the coach said his veteran group has practiced well after its first conference loss. “Our guys responded the way you’d want them to,” he said. … ASU guard Steve Moore has scored in double figures in seven consecutive games. … Cal’s Ayinde Ubaka is expected to return today after breaking his foot on Nov. 3. Fellow guard Richard Midgely, suffering from a shoulder sprain, hopes to play as soon as Saturday.
