Utility cuts power for tardy customers
IDAHO FALLS – Idaho Falls Power cut electricity to 10 residents last week who don’t pay their bills.
Unlike public companies like Idaho Power, the municipal utility can shut off power to people who don’t pay. Public companies are forbidden by law to cinch power between December and March to any household with children, elderly or ill people. Idaho Falls Power is encouraging delinquent customers to contact the city and make payment plans, said Municipal Services Director Craig Lords.
