Maybe so, Jess, but can Nick say the same thing?

Jessica Simpson is denying rumors of an impending split with husband Nick Lachey – again. Tabloids have run pictures of Lachey surrounded by cheerleaders at a Super Bowl party, along with reports of a dinner with ex-girlfriend Jordana Jarjura.

“I trust Nick totally, and he trusts me,” Simpson told Us Weekly magazine in an issue hitting newsstands today. “We are committed to our relationship.”

Simpson says she was unaware of Lachey’s meeting with Jarjura, which she called “innocent.”

“There are lessons to be learned,” she added. “Now Nick and I will tell each other about something like this ahead of time.”

The stars of MTV’s “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica” have been beset by tabloid speculation on their marriage’s imminent doom. But Simpson says that even when they are in different places, they are close.

“He’s always the last person I talk to before I go to sleep,” she says.

Cartoons? JC’s not yellow

Speaking of boy band-ers, JC Chasez of ‘N Sync, who guested on “The Simpsons” in 2001, again appears as his animated self on “A Scooby Doo Valentine” tonight on the WB.

“I’ve seen it ‘The Simpsons’ way, and I have to say, the ‘Scooby Doo’ way was animated a little bit better,” Chasez says. “It was really cool. On ‘The Simpsons,’ you end up looking like a cousin of the Simpsons.”

More than lip service from Ashlee

And speaking of Simpsons (the real-life variety, that is), Jessica’s little singing sister Ashlee Simpson and Teen People magazine have put together an auction to benefit UNICEF’s relief and recovery efforts for the young victims of the Asian earthquake and tsunami disaster.

Simpson asked her sister and such friends as Nicky Hilton and members of Good Charlotte to donate items that are being sold on eBay until Monday afternoon.

How about some relief from Love?

Courtney Love was sentenced Thursday to three years’ probation after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor count of assault with a deadly weapon.

Love, who also agreed to anger management counseling and drug testing, was charged in connection with an April 2004 incident during which she found a woman sleeping on her boyfriend’s couch and threw a liquor bottle at her before chasing her with a flashlight.

The 40-year-old singer also is working out a plea bargain on two felony drug charges stemming from a bizarre October 2003 incident in which she tried to break into an ex-boyfriend’s house.

Hey, the media get desperate, too

“Desperate Housewives” star Marcia Cross is denying rampant rumors that she’s about to come out as a lesbian.

“I just assumed this is what comes of being 42 and single,” Cross said on Wednesday’s “The View.”

“I do think it was really weird, though, that there was all this curiosity about something, like that – about sexuality,” she added. “And I thought, ‘What a world we live in that that’s so important.’ “
