L.A. Kings’ Roenick out 4-6 weeks
Los Angeles Kings center Jeremy Roenick will be out four to six weeks with a broken finger, an injury he found out about a day after not being selected to the U.S. Olympic hockey team.
“I found out this morning,” Roenick told The Canadian Press on Tuesday. “I have to go back (to Los Angeles) for surgery.”
Roenick broke the finger during Monday night’s 4-3 shootout win over Vancouver. He had a goal and an assist in the victory.
Saskin hired by NHLPA
Ted Saskin’s hiring as executive director of the NHL Players’ Association was confirmed officially by 86 percent of the executive board, according to union figures.
In all, 28 of the 37 secret ballots were returned by the 30 player representatives and seven executive committee members. Of the 28 votes, 24 confirmed Saskin’s hiring.
The NHLPA had asked players to uphold Saskin’s hiring amid claims by a dissident faction that he was improperly installed as executive director in July.
