Sherritt gives word to Eastern
Eastern Washington University received its second oral commitment in as many days when Pullman linebacker/running back J.C. Sherritt announced Saturday that he would join the two-time co-Big Sky Conference champions next fall.
Sherritt, who is 5-foot-10, 205 pounds, was the Great Northern League defensive Most Valuable Player for the Greyhounds, who won the State 2A championship with a 14-0 record. He was also a second-team all-league pick at running back after gaining more than 1,000 yards.
“I love the team and I love the coaches,” Sherritt said of EWU. “I think it’s a good place to play football. They have a class program.”
Sherritt expects to play fullback.
On Friday, Pendleton, Ore., linebacker Shane Colley made an oral commitment to EWU. Commitments aren’t binding until players sign a national letter of intent in February.
Idaho-USC game made official
As expected, Idaho and Southern California officials have agreed to play one another in the 2007 season opener at the Coliseum in Los Angeles.
USC is one of four non-conference games for the Vandals in 2007. UI also will play at Washington State and play host to Eastern Michigan and Cal Poly. The remainder of Idaho’s 12-game schedule will be filled with Western Athletic Conference teams.
