Jan Kinsella receives governor”s award

Jan Kinsella, a volunteer communications specialist with the Inland Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross, received the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Outstanding Volunteer Service during an April 18 ceremony held at the Governor’s mansion in Olympia. Kinsella works with Ready Corps VISTA team members in several Spokane public middle schools’ safety clubs.
•Mary Ann Murphy, executive director of Spokane Partners with Families and Children, received the Lee Ann Miller Award during the Children’s Justice Conference held at the Seattle Trade and Convention Center in March. Two awards are given each year by the Department of Social and Health Services to an individual, group, or program that has made a profound impact in promoting safety, protection and the well-being of children.

•Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Susan A. Spytex and Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Rachel H. Golden, recently completed basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
Spytex is the daughter of Cyndi Layne of Washtucna, Wash., and is a 2004 graduate of Washtucna High School.
Golden, a 2004 graduate of Columbia River High School, Vancouver, Wash., is the daughter of Carl Golden, Cheney.
