EasyDesk offers smaller companies latest technology
EasyDesk LLC is making the latest technology more accessible to small to midsize companies.
After doing research that showed that owners of smaller companies often lacked the time and financial resources to take advantage of the latest technology, Ralph Parkison and Hazel Flynn-Parkison, a husband and wife team, opened their business.
The research showed that many of those companies were operating computer systems that were accessible to hackers. Not only were they more vulnerable, Parkison said, they lacked sufficient data recovery systems.
“Between that and my past experience, we decided that this is the direction we really wanted to go,” Parkison said.
His past experience includes 10 years as chief technical officer of the promanagement division of ICM Asset Management Co., an investment firm. His wife was an accountant with management experience.
The company offers on- and off-site backups, in addition to the latest in virus protection and networking services.
It also offers instantaneous data recovery that re-installs all programs, files, drivers and ports.
Remote access gives users the ability to log on to their desktops – with all essential programs and files – from any location.
“Literally, you can access from anywhere in the world with a simple Internet connection,” Parkison said.
Because system and program updates are provided through a network, Parkison said, a person could use an older computer and still get results.

A to Z Rentals is back
Milt and Alice Neumann owned A to Z Rentals for 30 years. Eight years ago they sold it to RentX Industries, a United Kingdom company. Now it’s back in the family after daughter Cheryl Kettrick bought the chain of five rental stores earlier this year. The Valley store is at 10903 E. Sprague Ave.
“The time was right to get back in the business,” said Kettrick, who worked as a store manager before her parents sold their business. “I felt that Spokane’s economic future was bright.”
She also wanted to boost customer service. “Because we’re not corporate we can move faster. We can follow trends more quickly.”
All the A to Z Rentals locations – three in the Spokane area and two in North Idaho – rent a large variety of equipment.
“We rent lawn and garden equipment by the hour,” she said. “That’s how people need it.”
They also stock heavy equipment such as back hoes. Party supplies, usually rented by the weekend, are also popular. “We’re putting $100,000 into the special events line,” she said.
Customers are shown how to run the equipment they rent and more equipment continues to come in every day.
“We were always the go-to store, and we intend to get back to that name.”
