Two burglars may have hit wrong house

From staff reports

Spokane police believe home invasion burglars may have hit a South Hill home by mistake Tuesday morning.

A man and woman living in a house in the 3700 block of South Gandy told police they heard a loud crash inside their home at about 5 a.m. and the husband went to check. He told officers that he thought his cat had knocked something over, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

But when he walked toward the front door, the husband was confronted by two men in the entryway, Cottam said. The two men forced the husband back into his bedroom and demanded to know where the money was, Cottam said.

The two men took jewelry boxes from the top of a dresser and stole the man’s wallet from the kitchen before leaving the house.

Both men were described as black, about 5 feet 10, 190 pounds, Cottam said.

Detective John Miller said he thinks the two robbers may have made a mistake on the house. Cottam said the couple had moved in about six months ago.
