Athletics 8, Rangers 5: Dan Haren pitched six solid innings and cleanup hitter Erubiel Durazo snapped out of a season-long slump with his first extra-base hits as Oakland won in Arlington, Texas. Durazo went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Red Sox 12, Blue Jays 7: Manny Ramirez spent an adventurous day in left field, hitting two homers over the Green Monster and losing two fly balls in the sun as Curt Schilling got his first win as Boston beat visiting Toronto.
Yankees 19, Devil Rays 8: Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees broke out for 13 runs in a record-setting second inning as New York beat visiting Tampa Bay. Rodriguez homered twice, doubled twice, had five hits, six RBIs and scored five times.
White Sox 5, Twins 4: Carl Everett homered twice, including a tiebreaking two-run drive in the sixth inning, as Chicago beat visiting Minnesota. Joe Crede also hit a two-run homer for Chicago, which overcame a 3-1 deficit.
Indians 5, Royals 1: Casey Blake and Ben Broussard hit consecutive home runs and Cliff Lee blanked Kansas City on two hits over seven innings as Cleveland won in K.C.
Tigers 13, Orioles 3: Dmitri Young went 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs, leading a 16-hit attack that carried Detroit to a win in Baltimore.
National League
Braves 1, Astros 0 (12): Tim Hudson outpitched Roger Clemens, and Ryan Langerhans had a pinch-hit homer in the 12th inning to lead Atlanta to a win in Houston.
Dodgers 7, Brewers 3: Odalis Perez didn’t allow a hit until Junior Spivey doubled in the seventh inning, and Milton Bradley hit home runs from both sides of the plate to lead Los Angeles to a win in Milwaukee.
Phillies 5, Mets 4: Randy Wolf took a shutout into the ninth inning, and Philadelphia’s bullpen barely held on as the Phillies beat visiting New York.
Marlins 9, Nationals 4: Dontrelle Willis extended his season-opening shutout streak to 24 innings before giving up three runs in the seventh, a half-inning after Florida batted around to build a big lead and hand Washington its first home loss.
Padres 7, Giants 2: Mark Loretta hit a go-ahead, bases-loaded double with two out in the seventh inning as San Diego snapped a four-game losing streak by beating visiting San Francisco.
Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 3: Troy Glaus hit his fifth homer and Brandon Webb benefited from Colorado’s shaky bullpen to beat Shawn Chacon for the second time in a week as Arizona got a win in Denver.
Reds 7, Cubs 6: Adam Dunn hit two solo homers off Kerry Wood as Cincinnati withstood four Chicago home runs to rally for an improbable win over the visiting Cubs.
Cardinals 11, Pirates 1: Mark Mulder, the Cardinals’ top off-season pickup, ended a nine-game winless streak by allowing two hits over eight innings to lead St. Louis to a win in Pittsburgh.
