Man, 18, arrested following stabbing

From staff reports

Spokane Police arrested an 18-year-old man on an attempted first-degree murder charge early Saturday in connection with a Friday night stabbing.

Jason D. Flett of 405 E. Wabash was taken to Spokane County Jail, police said. Two other suspects were described as white males in their late teens or early 20s. The 21-year-old stabbing victim was in serious condition Saturday at a Spokane-area hospital, said Dick Cottam of the Spokane Police Department.

About 11:30 p.m. Friday, the 21-year-old man, his brother and three friends were leaving a party in the 500 block of E. Wabash when they were approached by three men, Cottam said. The suspects said they were affiliated with a gang and the block was “theirs.” After an argument, one suspect stabbed the 21-year-old in the neck, chest and arm, Cottam said. The knife was left behind, buried in the victim’s arm. The attackers fled.

Spokane Police and firefighters responded to the scene. The victim was able to help police identify one of the suspects.
