Angie Bjorklund makes Parade All-America list
University High sophomore basketball player Angie Bjorklund was named to the fourth team as one of 40 members from around the country on this year’s Parade All-America girls basketball team.
The teams, made up of players from 20 states and the District of Columbia, will be announced in Sunday’s issue of Parade magazine, which is in The Spokesman-Review.
“That’s stunning isn’t it?” said her coach Mark Stinson. “It’s probably the highest honor when compared to all the polls.”
Bjorklund said she was aware that someone had called to say she was nominated
“I didn’t know I’d get it,” said Bjorklund, calling it the biggest honor she’s received. “That’s crazy. It’s awesome.”
Bjorklund, a 6-foot guard, led the Greater Spokane League in scoring and finished with 575 points in 29 games, a 19.8 overall average for the Titans, who placed sixth at the State 4A.
She was All-GSL, first-team AP All State and the Tacoma News Tribune’s Washington Player of the year.
Among her summer activities will be the Nike Camp in Oregon and a camp at the University of Tennessee.
“That will be fun,” Bjorklund said.
