Fisher reels in three goals for Riverside

Kim Fisher was a handful.

The junior midfielder had a hat trick to lead Riverside to an 8-0 Great Northern League girls soccer win at Colville on Tuesday.

Fisher scored twice in the first 22 minutes, then scored again early in the second half as the Rams rolled to their second league win without a loss. Junior forward Dani Hanson added a pair of goals two minutes apart in the second half and set up Fisher’s first goal at the 9-minute mark of the first half. Ryanne Skinner had a goal and an assist.

In other GNL matches, visiting Pullman moved to 3-0 in league by blanking Deer Park 2-0. After playing a scoreless first half, Katie Spangelberg took a feed from Kaara Heim to score at 71 minutes, then reversed the order four minutes later for an insurance goal. … Lakeside scored four second-half goals to break open a contest that was 1-1 at halftime. Freshman striker Callie Paul scored her first three goals of the season for the hat trick, scoring the match-winning goal at the 42-minute mark.

Volleyball

Pullman took three consecutive games from host Lakeside in a GNL match at Nine Mile Falls. … Colville held off visiting Chewelah 26-24, 25-22, 20-25, 25-15. With the final game tied at 11, Caitlin McGrane served eight consecutive points to put Colville over the top. Whitney Loan led the winners with a match-high 23 digs. … Riverside topped visiting Deer Park 25-17, 25-11, 25-17. Danielle Schneider served eight consecutive points in game two to keep the Rams rolling.

Cross country

At Nine Mile Falls, Colville and host Lakeside each earned GNL wins at Lakeside. Colville’s Justin Rose covered the course in 17 minutes, 29 seconds to lead his team to a win the boys meet, 23-33. Lakeside’s Katie Campbell turned in a 20:21 to lead the Eagles, who placed four runners in the top five in an 18-37 win. … Pullman’s boys and girls each earned a pair of head-to-head wins a three-way meet at Deer Park. Pawel Szafruga ran a 17:51 as the Greyhounds edged Riverside 24-35 and Deer Park 15-50. Riverside Stephanie Dye crossed first in the girls meet with a 23:01. Riverside and Pullman each finished with 28 points, with Pullman winning the tiebreaker. Pullman topped Deer Park 20-38, and Riverside topped Deer Park 19-42. … The host Cardinals won both meets at Medical Lake and turned in the top times in each race. David Jacob finished first in the boys meet at 17:51. Ali Nelson turned in a 22:23 to win the girls meet.
