Caring for Kids event raises $40,000

From staff reports

A luncheon held Tuesday in Spokane raised more than $40,000 for Morning Star Boys’ Ranch and St. Anne’s Children and Family Center, said Loreen McFaul, development director for Catholic Charities in Eastern Washington.

Morning Star and St. Anne’s will split the money from Tuesday’s Caring for Kids Luncheon at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, McFaul said. More than 400 people attended the event, where the main speaker was Julie Sullivan, a reporter from the Oregonian newspaper in Portland who previously worked at The Spokesman-Review.

Morning Star is a residential group home that serves about 30 boys from the Spokane area. St. Anne’s focuses on child care and family support services.
