What’s old cigarette lighter worth?

Larry Cox King Features Syndicate

Q: I have a very old cigarette lighter that I would like appraised. Can you help me? — Daryl, Eagle Grove, Iowa

A: Cigarette collectibles have been smoking the past few years. In addition to lighters, there is a big demand for old cigarette packs, vintage pipes and tobacco premiums. A check of the Internet revealed several lighters for sale, including a silver-plated Evans model from the 1930s, $35; a Lucky Strike premium, circa 1950, $45; and an “Electro-Match,” $95.

Dr. Greg Zemenick is a serious cigarette lighter collector and might be able to help you. His address is 1350 Kirts, Suite 160, Troy, MI 48084. It is always good manners to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope when writing experts.
