What an untangled Web we weave
I love the Internet. So much information right at your fingertips.
The Internet wasn’t created with sports information in mind, but what a match made in heaven.
The Spokesman-Review Web team has been working tirelessly to roll out our new and improved Sports Section on the Web. They have created a cover page that makes it easier to navigate through the incredible amount of information that is locally produced.
At spokesmanreview.com/sports you have all the latest news from the Associated Press, breaking news from The Spokesman-Review and the entire list of stories from that day’s paper.
There is a little teaser box on the right side with information about stories planned for the next day’s paper. There are links to our TV Listings and our local menu of college and minor league events and the off-track betting sites and times.
Venture further down the right-side rail and read the latest John Blanchette column and outdoors news from Outdoors Editor Rich Landers.
Scroll down a bit farther and the latest high school varsity scores and stats are a click away. Coaches call in the results and they are posted within minutes of the call. The standings are updated as the games are entered.
Choose football, volleyball, soccer or cross country and see that day’s list of events. You can also choose your favorite team and see all the results from that year. Pick a date to see all the results from that date.
On the right side of all the prep pages, you will find a listing of all the latest stories. It will also take you to Vince Grippi’s prep sports blog.
Speaking of blogs, travel back to our sports home page and find all of our special sections. All Cougs, All The Time is one of the most viewed sites at spokesmanreview.com. There you will find staff writer Glenn Kasses’ blog. You will also find useful links to other Pac-10 schools and other fan sites. You can view slide shows of photos from WSU games and follow links to all the local colleges and Spokane’s minor-league franchises.
If you are a newspaper subscriber, all of this information is free. Non-subscribers can pay a small monthly fee for complete access.
Give us a try and let me know what you think.
