Hiker missing
LEAVENWORTH, Wash. – Search crews spent a third day Saturday looking for a hiker missing for a week in the Wenatchee-Okanogan National Forest.
Richard R. Lee, 47, of Hobart, King County, was reported overdue Wednesday. He had gone hiking alone Sept. 9 on a trip expected to take two days.
The weather was clear and dry when he left. But the 70-square-mile search area has been hit with up to 8 inches of snow since then, Chelan County sheriff’s Deputy Gene Ellis said.
The search began Thursday and was expanded Saturday.
