Menghini key for Sandpoint

Senior forward Angie Menghini scored 32 minutes into the game, then set up the game-winner with 10 minutes remaining in Sandpoint’s 2-1 non-league girls soccer game win over visiting Kennewick.

Menghini collected a pass from Allison Gillis to score the game’s lone first-half goal.

After the Lions evened the score at the 66-minute mark, Menghini set up the game-winner.

In other non-league games, Lake City and Eisenhower played to a 2-2 draw. The teams did not play overtime or a tiebreaker.

Outside defender Brantly Thornton scored a dozen minutes into the game to spark Post Falls to a 2-0 non-league victory over visiting Valley Christian. The junior created a handful of shots for himself, inspiring his teammates in the process.
