Jaguars tame the Colts

The Jacksonville Jaguars found another team to burn in the fourth quarter.
Byron Leftwich led the Jaguars on a 30-yard drive in the final four minutes and rookie kicker Josh Scobee made a season-long 53-yard field goal to help the Jaguars pull off a 27-24 victory Sunday over the Colts in Indianapolis.
It was Jacksonville’s fifth fourth-quarter win this season and marked the first time the Jaguars have won at Indianapolis in four tries.
Leftwich finished 23 of 30 for 300 yards with two touchdowns and was at his best late, ending the game with three straight scoring drives.
The Colts’ four-game winning streak ended after a rusty performance that gave the Jaguars the lead in the AFC South.
Lions 28, Giants 13
Joey Harrington threw two touchdown passes, and Chris Cash made a diving interception in the end zone late in the first half to lead Detroit to a win over New York in East Rutherford, N.J.
Kevin Jones scored on a 2-yard run and Artose Pinner iced the game with an 8-yard TD run as the Lions won their third straight away from home and snapped a four-game winning streak for the Giants.
Eagles 34, Browns 31 (OT)
David Akers kicked a 50-yard field goal in overtime and Donovan McNabb matched a career high with four touchdown passes — two to Terrell Owens — as Philadelphia remained unbeaten with a victory in Cleveland.
Akers’ kick barely cleared the crossbar in front of Cleveland’s Dawg Pound with 5:02 remaining in OT as the Eagles (6-0) continued their best start since 1981.
McNabb finished 28 of 43 for 376 yards, but set up Akers’ game-winner with a 28-yard run.
Browns quarterback Jeff Garcia went 21 for 36 with 236 yards and tied the game at 31 with 30 seconds to go in regulation on a 4-yard run.
Packers 41, Cowboys 20
Mike Sherman has found his calling.
With their coach-general manager directing the offense for the second straight game, Green Bay scored on its first seven possessions to thrash Dallas in Green Bay, Wis.
The Packers snapped a three-game losing streak at Lambeau Field and Brett Favre beat the Cowboys for just the second time in 10 tries.
Ahman Green ended a monthlong funk by rushing for 163 yards and two scores, including a 90-yarder in the third quarter. He became the second player in NFL history with two career touchdown runs of at least 90 yards, joining Bo Jackson, who did it in 1987.
Chiefs 56, Falcons 10
Priest Holmes sprained his ankle early in the second half, so Derrick Blaylock scored the other half of Kansas City’s NFL-record eight rushing touchdowns.
Shredding what had been the NFL’s leading defense against the rush, Holmes and Blaylock each scored four times on the ground in a stunning rout of Atlanta in Kansas City, Mo.
Holmes scored on runs of 1, 2, 2 and 15 yards during a 35-3 first-half blitz. He was stopped just a couple of feet short of what would have been his fifth TD rushing for the Chiefs.
But all Holmes’ injury did was get backup Blaylock into the flow.
Holmes tied the NFL standard with four TDs rushing in one half. The Chiefs also piled up a team-record 36 first downs.
Vikings 20, Titans 3
With Randy Moss relegated to two snaps of decoy duty, Daunte Culpepper and Minnesota shifted gears and grinded one out against Tennessee in Minneapolis.
Culpepper completed 24 of 30 mostly low-risk passes for 183 yards and a score, while rookie Mewelde Moore rushed for 138 yards on 20 carries.
Moss extended his consecutive games streak to 102 with a token start.
Saints 31, Raiders 26
Deuce McAllister ran for two short touchdowns, Aaron Brooks threw for 282 yards and a touchdown, and New Orleans ended a three-game losing streak with a road win over Oakland.
Ravens 20, Bills 6
Deion Sanders returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown and also picked off a pass in the end zone, leading Baltimore past visiting Buffalo.
Bucs 19, Bears 7
Michael Pittman rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown to lead Tampa Bay to a victory over Chicago in Tampa, Fla.
Brian Griese threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Michael Clayton and Martin Gramatica kicked a pair of 22-yard field goals for Tampa Bay.
