Rita Ringwood

Spokane

Funeral Mass for Rita J. Ringwood, 81, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, with inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Ringwood, who died Monday, was born in Sprague, Wash. She was a resident of the Spokane area for 20 years.

She began her education at the Ringwood School, a one-room schoolhouse a mile from her family’s farm. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Sprague In 1940.

In 1943 she graduated from Eastern Washington Normal School and also obtained degrees from the University of San Francisco and from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

Miss Ringwood taught school in Vancouver, Wash., Walla Walla and Spokane. She also taught the children of military personnel overseas in Germany and Japan.

She taught in Arlington, Va., from 1959 to 1985.

Upon retirement she did volunteer work teaching English to children of foreign government employees.

She was a fan of thoroughbred horse racing and hosted parties for Triple Crown races, many of which she attended.

Survivors include a sister, Dorine Tracy of Kirkland, Wash.; and three brothers, Joseph, Pat and Jim Ringwood, all of Spokane.

Keith Wright

Henderson, Nev.

Memorial service for Keith M. Wright, 33, will be Saturday at noon at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mr. Wright, who was born in Spokane, died Sept. 10 in Las Vegas from injuries suffered in an auto accident.

In his early years he enjoyed Cub and Boy scouts,and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1989.

He was a youth member of the Inland Empire Wildlife Council for about 10 years and helped at Fishing World during the Big Horn Show.

Mr. Wright graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1989 and earned an associate’s degree in computer-aided drafting from ITT Tech in 1993.

He was employed with Themeing Solutions Inc. in Las Vegas, where he contributed to many projects, including the new Star Trek experience 4-D ride at the Hilton Hotel.

He most recently had been working on projects at the Rio and Silverton.

Mr. Wright was a member of American Pool Players Association while in Spokane and the Dart Association in Henderson, where his team qualified for the National Dart Championships this year.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, boating and snowboarding.

He married Gianna Fuller in 2000 in Spokane.

Survivors include his wife; his parents, Myron and Lidice, and a brother, Kevin, all of Spokane; and his grandmother, Pearl Motl.

Netta Turner

Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Visitation for Netta Turner, 95, will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. at Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.

Mrs. Turner, who was born in Todd County, Minn., died Tuesday.

She attended school in North Dakota and later moved to Bonners Ferry. She graduated from high school in 1929 and married Archie Turner. She worked as a sales clerk for J.C. Penney Co. in Bonners Ferry and later became a legal secretary and worked for W.J. Nixon and Watt Prather. She also was a secretary for Thompson Lumber Co in Priest River, Idaho.

Mrs. Turner moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1968 and worked as a secretary at Forest Bros. wrecking yard until retiring in 1974.

She was also a volunteer Pink Lady at Kootenai Medical Center before returning to Bonners Ferry in 1994.

She was very involved with horses and enjoyed riding, golf, bowling, pool, crocheting and traveling worldwide.

Survivors include three children, Bryan Turner of Gig Harbor, Wash., Ron Turner of North Berwick, Maine, and Barbara Cossairt of Bonners Ferry; three sisters, Florence Crim of Spokane, Beth Avery of Coeur d’Alene and Elaine Cross of Phillipsburg, Mont.; 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Danner

Spokane

Graveside service for Dorothy Lucille Danner, 82, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Danner, who died Monday, was born and raised in Spokane.

She attended North Central High School with the class of 1940 and earned her GED certificate.

Mrs. Danner was employed in photography for many years and was known for her hand-painted portrait photos with oil colors over sepia. She also designed award-winning department store window displays for J.J. Newberry at Shadle Center.

She was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and helped design and decorate award-winning Forester floats for Spokane parades during the 1950s and ‘60s.

She became an avid dancer in later years and attended most of the area senior center dances.

She attended Messiah Lutheran Church, where she volunteered during the 1960s and ‘70s, and made banners and decorations for holiday services.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Bristol, Dennis Danner and Chuck Danner; a daughter, Patricia Danner her former husband, Melvin Danner, and a sister, Lois Hill, all of Spokane; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Martha (Moody) Buell

St. Maries

Service for Martha P. (Moody) Buell, 85, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Buell, who was born in St. Maries, died Wednesday.

She grew up in St. Maries and graduated from high school there in 1935 and received her teaching certificate from Lewiston Normal School in 1938.

She taught in a one-room school house in the Marble Creek area.

She married Carl Buell in 1939, and the couple lived in St. Maries. She was a mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Buell served as the St. Maries city librarian from 1966 until her retirement in 1990.

Her husband died in 1978.

Mrs. Buell enjoyed traveling, gardening, picking huckleberrys, reading, fishing and bowling.

She was a member of the St. Maries Country Club.

Survivors include three children, Carl Buell of Franktown, Colo., Marty Buell of Ramah, Colo., and Martha Bertelsen of Medford, Ore.; two sisters, Ora Lyon of St. Maries and Clara Imper of Caldwell, Idaho; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Thomas Walsh

Half Moon Prairie

Funeral for Thomas R. Walsh, 79, will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Half Moon Grange, with burial at Wayside Cemetery. Lauer Funeral Home of Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Walsh died Tuesday.

He was born and raised in Deep Creek, and graduated from Reardan High School in 1942. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan during the reconstruction.

Mr. Walsh moved to Half Moon Prairie in 1950, where he lived and farmed.

He married Lorene Tremer in 1956.

He served on the board of several agricultural organizations, including Darigold, Rockford Grain Growers and the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, and had been a member of the Half Moon Grange since 1947.

After he retired, his hobbies included restoring vintage cars.

His wife died in 2000.

Survivors include a son, Timothy Walsh; four daughters, Leslie Walsh, Kelly Rykken, Lynette McKeown and Wendy Walsh Vilander; a sister, Viola Martin; and three grandchildren.

Stephen McBride

Spokane

Visitation for Stephen Patrick McBride, 35, will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Memorial service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. McBride died Sunday.

Born in Salt Lake City, he moved with his family to Spokane in 1974, and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1988.

He pursued a career in landscape design and construction and started his own business, Premier Landscape, in 1994.

Survivors include his parents, Judy and George Samples of Spokane and Gerald McBride of Portland; two sisters, Lori McBride Michno of Claremont, Calif., and Kimberli Samples of Seattle; his fiancee, Tara Bergman of Spokane; and his grandparents, Ruth McBride of Madras, Ore., and Pearle Bradley of Port Angeles, Wash.

Beverly Hoover

Spokane

Memorial service for Beverly June Hoover, 76, will be today at 1 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hoover, who died Monday, was born in Sioux Falls, S.D.

She later moved to Grantsburg, Wis., where she attended high school and met Richard Hoover. They were married in Grantsburg in 1947.

A longtime resident of Spokane, she spent many winters in Apache Junction, Ariz.

Mrs. Hoover was a homemaker and enjoyed making ceramics and collecting Elvis memorabilia.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Linda Bailey-Devine, Patricia Schoen, Becky Warner, Kathy Hoover and Karen Collison, and two sons, Richard and David Hoover, all of the Spokane area; a sister, Olive Lundgrun of Everett; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

Glynna Ireland

Deer Park

Funeral for Glynna Margretta Ireland, 87, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Tri-County Christian Center in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ireland, a longtime resident of Deer Park, died Tuesday. She was born in North Battleground, Saskatchewan.

She was a member of the Tri-County Christian Center, Assembly of God Church, the AARP and the Gardenspot Grange, all in Deer Park.

Her husband, Homer, died in 1979.

Survivors include five children, Lettie Whisman and Vivian Clemetson, both of Deer Park, Lois Kleinpaste of Las Vegas, Dorthy Rehms of Clayton, Wash., and Homer Ireland of Anchor Point, Alaska; two sisters, Golda Nelson of Vancouver Island, B.C., and Vivian Freeman of Prince George, B.C.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
