Eagles sweep Weber State for sixth consecutive win

Deanna Albers, Keva Sonderen and Lizzy Mellor totaled 10 kills apiece Thursday while leading Eastern Washington (7-5, 2-0) to its sixth consecutive volleyball win, a 30-22, 30-15, 30-25 sweep of visiting Weber State (2-13, 1-2) in the Big Sky Conference.

Albers finished with a .500 hitting percentage and Sonderen hit .412 to lead EWU’s .274 effort. The Eagles capped the night by hitting .344 in the third game.

Mellor added six aces, Christina Albers 28 assists and Andrea Verdoljak 11 digs for the Eagles.

•Fabiana Leomil and Thais Pedroso combined for 34 kills and 33 digs while powering Salt Lake Community College (24-5, 4-0) to a 3-1 win at North Idaho College (15-12, 1-2) in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.

Hockey

The Spokane Chiefs assigned defenseman Raj Toor, 17, to the Coquitlam Express of the Junior A British Columbia Hockey League.

The move leaves the Chiefs with 25 players on their roster.
