Beginning December 1, Washington and Idaho residents will have the right to order a free copy of their credit report thanks to a new federal law, which will be phased in across the country over the next year. To help people take advantage of the law, Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports magazine, has created an online guide to ordering a credit report, reviewing it for accuracy, and correcting mistakes if you find them.
