Homes tour fund-raiser next Saturday

Five stunning homes will open their doors and dole out the holiday cheer for an upcoming fund-raiser that benefits Spokane Valley Community Center.

Next Saturday, the public has the opportunity to glean decorating ideas while contributing to a worthy cause.

“I think it’s fun for people to go on these and see how these incredible homes are decorated, but it also educates them as to what we’re doing,” said Mollie Dalpae, executive director of the center.

This is the second year for the event, which is one of several creative fund-raisers organized by the center’s auxiliary. Last year’s tour attracted about 200 people and raised $4,000 that was used for energy assistance.

Area senior centers donated vans to transport tourists from the Quality Inn Valley Suites, where crafts and refreshments will be available, to the homes located in Northwood.

Houses are decorated by homeowners and include touches provided by Eclectic Gifts, Plantland Nursery Garden and Gift Center, Tin Roof and Simply Northwest.

The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and begins at Quality Inn Valley Suites, 8923 E. Mission Ave. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased next Saturday at the Quality Inn or in advance at Spokane Valley Community Center, 10814 E. Broadway Ave., Eclectic Gifts, 23801 E. Appleway Blvd. in Liberty Lake, Holiday’s Hallmark Shops, 1235 N. Liberty Lake Road or 2925-A E. 29th Ave., and Tickets West.
