Vikings top Centennial, avenge last year’s rout
It was a case of sweet revenge for Coeur d’Alene. The Vikings (2-1) avenged last season’s 31-point loss to Centennial (3-1) with a 48-45 win.
Coeur d’Alene had a 34-25 halftime lead and held Centennial scoreless for a 7-minute stretch in the third quarter, but watched its lead narrow down to a single point in the fourth quarter, before winning.
Jenna Griffitts went 9 of 10 from the free-throw line on her way to a game-high 19 points. Jenna Delong added 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field.
Inland Empire League foes Moscow and Lewiston will meet in the title game of the Bengal Shootout at 6 tonight. Moscow (2-0) earned its way in after a 56-39 win over Lapwai (1-1). Four players scored in double figures for the Wildcats, with Jamie Brower’s 15 leading the way. Mullan and Kootenai play for third place tonight at six. Wallace and Kellogg play for the tournament title at seven. … Timberlake’s 20-point fourth-quarter surge turned a 22-19 lead at the half into a convincing 50-32 win over Clark Fork. Lynsie Powers of the Tigers (2-0) used 12-of-21 shooting to lead all scorers with 25 points. Teammate Kim Marsan added 10 rebounds. … Lake City grabbed a 32-14 halftime lead and coasted the rest of the way to a 52-41 non-conference win over Eagle (2-2) in Boise.
