Vikings top Centennial, avenge last year’s rout

It was a case of sweet revenge for Coeur d’Alene. The Vikings (2-1) avenged last season’s 31-point loss to Centennial (3-1) with a 48-45 win.

Coeur d’Alene had a 34-25 halftime lead and held Centennial scoreless for a 7-minute stretch in the third quarter, but watched its lead narrow down to a single point in the fourth quarter, before winning.

Jenna Griffitts went 9 of 10 from the free-throw line on her way to a game-high 19 points. Jenna Delong added 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field.

Inland Empire League foes Moscow and Lewiston will meet in the title game of the Bengal Shootout at 6 tonight. Moscow (2-0) earned its way in after a 56-39 win over Lapwai (1-1). Jacki Calhoun and Mia Tibbals combined for 33 Bears points, scoring 19 and 14, respectively. … Lisa Cannon and Kiley Fabrique both scored 11 points in Lewiston’s (1-0) 53-29 win over Bonners Ferry (0-1). …Wallace (2-0) earned a title game berth in the Silver Valley Tournament after rolling past Kootenai (0-3) 71-45. Sophomores Lisa Carver and Krista Williams led the Warriors with 16 and 12 points, respectively. … On the other side of the tournament bracket Kellogg (2-1) used a 26-point first quarter on its way to a 78-37 win over Mullan (0-2). Four players scored in double figures for the Wildcats, with Jamie Brower’s 15 leading the way. Mullan and Kootenai play for third place tonight at six. Wallace and Kellogg play for the tournament title at seven. … Timberlake’s 20-point fourth-quarter surge turned a 22-19 lead at the half into a convincing 50-32 win over Clark Fork. Lynsie Powers of the Tigers (2-0) used 12-of-21 shooting to lead all scorers with 25 points. Teammate Kim Marsan added 10 rebounds. … Lake City grabbed a 32-14 halftime lead and coasted the rest of the way to a 52-41 non-conference win over Eagle (2-2) in Boise. Sophomore Richelle Fenenbock led the Timberwolves (3-1) with 18 points. Georgia Burke did a little bit of everything adding nine points, six rebounds, four steals, and three assists. … Lakeside (0-2) managed only seven first-half points in a 49-22 road loss to Troy (1-1).
