The Salvation Army – Nov. 20 is National Family Volunteering Day. Families can volunteer to ring bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle fund-raiser. For information, call Christy at 329-2732 or e-mail Christy_markham@usw.salvationarmy.org.

The Salvation Army – Volunteers are needed to deliver food baskets to low-income families for Thanksgiving, process applications and assist elderly clients. Volunteers must be 16 years old. For information, call Judy Miller at 325-6821.

Second Harvest of the Inland Northwest – Volunteers are needed on the first Saturday of December and January from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to give food to more than 400 people. AARP/Tax-Aide – Volunteers with a background in communications, public relations and computer skills are needed at Spokane Tax-Aide to help taxpayers filing federal tax returns. For more information, call (888) 227-7669 or visit www.aarp.org/taxaide.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest – Become a friend or role model to a child. Volunteers are individually matched with a Little Brother or Little Sister based on personality, interests and location. Must be at least 16 years old. Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest – Corporate and group opportunities are available for ongoing and one-time only community service projects.
