Delay advised on troop mail

Associated Press

BOISE – Family and friends who want to send holiday greetings to members of the Idaho National Guard should wait until the unit is settled before using the mail, officials say.

Members of the 116th Cavalry Brigade are on leave now but will be traveling to Iraq during the holiday season.

Because they will have no permanent address, officials worry their packages will get lost. But packages for soldiers already stationed overseas should be sent soon.

Holiday packages being sent to family members or friends already serving overseas should be mailed by Nov. 13, officials advised. Cards and letters sent first-class mail should be sent by Dec. 6.
