Hewitt carries Clark Fork into 2nd round
Clayton Hewitt ran for two touchdowns and passed for a third Friday night to lead Clark Fork to a 50-0 victory over visiting Mullan in a 1A Division II football playoff first-round game.
Hewitt opened the scoring with a 44-yard romp. He passed 31 yards to Evan Martin for a second-quarter TD, and his 6-yard TD run halted the game in the third period on the 45-point rule.
Clark Fork (8-0) either hosts Horseshoe Bend or travels to Notus next weekend in the second round of the playoffs.
Mullan finished 4-6.

Reardan (8-1) got a 35-yard punt return for a TD from Eric Everett and a 16-yard TD pass from Ian Wagner to down host Liberty 21-6. Reardan, with only a 19-0 loss to Lind-Ritzville blemishing its record, clinched the No. 2 seed into the state playoffs, against an opponent to be determined. Liberty (7-2) earned its first playoff berth since 1998, but must play No. 1-ranked DeSales (9-1). Andrew Canning completed 9 of 21 passes for 121 yards and a TD. … In other games, Cory Christman ran for two TDs to lead Davenport (4-5) to a 31-12 win over visiting Almira/Coulee-Hartline (1-8). Christman carried 15 times for 101 yards and backfield mate Luke Rodenbough carried 11 times for 100. Greg Giese of ACH completed 9 of 16 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns. … Selkirk (4-5) erupted for 22 second-quarter points en route to a 34-15 victory at Wilbur-Creston (3-6). Selkirk’s Nathan Reed completed 10 of 17 passes for 135 yards and two TDs. … Kurtis Finkbeiner rushed for two TDs and picked up 142 yards on 22 carries to lead Odessa (4-5) to a 16-6 victory at Springdale. The Chargers (0-9) got 129 rushing yards out of Mike Whitney, who carried 24 times.
