Heather Locklear to star in big screen flick ‘Perfect Man’
Good to know we’ll be seeing Heather Locklear on the big screen. The star of TV’s “Melrose Place,” “Spin City” and other outings has set her sights on “The Perfect Man” for Universal Pictures. It’s about a youngster (Hilary Duff) who sets out to find a man for her romantically challenged mom (Locklear). Off-screen, Heather is happily married to Richie Sambora and a loving mom to Ava Elizabeth Sambora.
•Lotsa partying in Lalaland after the premieres of many pics. For the “Fat Albert” fete at Paramount, Bill Cosby held court in white sweats and Birkenstocks while his wife, Camille, was more formally attired.
•And there was much commotion at the “Man on Fire” gala when J.Lo appeared with her new bf, Marc Anthony.
•At that same “do,” little Dakota Fanning waved to the crowd just like Queen Elizabeth and signed autographs with all the aplomb of a major movie star. She’s learning fast.
•Jennifer Garner seems to be the new Hollywood Hottie, with much publicity and many role offerings. Looks like Goran Visnjic will be her leading man in “Elektra,” about a beautiful killer who was trained by the Hand, a clan of mystical ninjas. When she turns her back on them, they want her dead. She is also assigned to kill Goran’s character, but (you guessed it) instead she falls in love with him.
•No doubt about it, Charlize Theron has it all. Beauty, brains, talent, a loving mom, a doting boyfriend, doggies she adores AND her own production company. This company, along with Universal Pics, will produce “Jinx,” to star Theron. It’s about a bounty hunter who must trust a wanted criminal so they can team to find millions of dollars of mob money.
•Kevin Spacey has won two Oscars and a myriad of other kudos for his work in pictures. Now he’s taking to the stage. He’s moved bag and baggage to Britain to become artistic director of London’s famed Old Vic Co. He’ll start by staging four plays, one to be “The Philadelphia Story,” the opus that Kate Hepburn made her own both onstage and on-screen. Kevin will essay the role of C.K. Dexter Haven, played by Cary Grant in the movie.
•Tinseltown is talking up a new book — “Shut Up He Explained: The Memoir of a Blacklisted Kid” by Kate Lardner (Ballantine), about being a child in a family where a member was blacklisted and refused to divulge the names of the members of his blacklisted group. It’s a searing insight into the McCarthy years in Hollywood.
•Aside to Laurence H. of Clifton, N.J. No. Demi and Ashton have not split. They’ve just decided not to get married. Things are going too well the way they are. BUT I betcha if there’s a bambino they will tie the knot.

Bits ‘N’ Pieces
•Tobey Maguire and his best girl, Jennifer Meyer, riding all the rides and eating cotton candy at Magic Mountain just like us ordinary folks.
•It’s no longer Rebecca Romijn-Stamos. Since the split with John Stamos it’s now just Rebecca Romijn, causing a lot of erasures in casting credits and etc.
•Aside to Peter F. of Omaha, Neb. Tea Leoni’s given name is Elizabeth Tea Pantaleoni.
•Billy Bob Thornton set to star in a remake of “The Bad News Bears.” As to his love life at the moment — your guess is as good as mine.
