Staff Sgt. Sides commended
Army Staff Sgt. Brian J. Sides has recently been awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his participation in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sides is the son of William R. Sides Sr. of Spokane and is a 1993 graduate of Central Valley High School. He is a cavalry scout assigned to the 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment in Buedingen, Germany.
• Benjamin J. Kayser has been awarded the 2004 George C. Marshall ROTC Award. He is the son of Jerry and Ronda Kayser of Moses Lake and is a 1997 graduate of Moses Lake High School.
• Army Pvt. Joshua L. Pray has graduated from the light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced-individual training course at Fort Jackson in Columbia S.C. Pray is the son of Michael and Susan Pray of Ritzville, Wash.
• Lissa A. Quick has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the Air Force. Quick is the daughter of Renee Riggin of Spokane Valley and is a 2000 graduate of West Valley High School.
• Air Force 2nd Lt. Matthew J. McBlair has graduated from specialized undergraduate pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss. He is the son of Robert McBlair of Colville.
• Cory N. McLaughlin has recently been awarded the 2004 George C. Marshall ROTC Award. He is the son of Don and Janet McLaughlin on Chewelah, Wash. McLaughlin is a 1996 graduate of Jenkins High School in Chewelah and a 2000 graduate of Eastern Washington University.
• Air Force Airman 1st Class Becky D. Hazel has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. Hazel is the daughter of Suzanne Thompson of Seven Bays, Wash., and is a 1999 graduate of Ferris High School.
• Air Force 2nd Lt. Brian D. Muto has graduated from the joint specialized undergraduate pilot training at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla. He is the son of Patricia Muto and Daniel Muto, both of Spokane. Muto is a 1998 graduate of Rogers High School and a 2002 graduate of Washington State University.
• Johnathan R. Sherwood has graduated from the Air Force Academy with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and a commission as a second lieutenant. Sherwood is a 2000 graduate of Medical Lake High School and is the grandson of James and Sandra Ruggles of Medical Lake.
• Cadet Patricia M. Crispin has graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. Crispin is the daughter of Gerald and Linda Crispin of Spokane and is a 2000 graduate of University High School.
• Army Pvt. Eric J. Marrazzo has graduated from the heavy-wheeled vehicle mechanic advanced-individual training course at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Marrazzo is the son of Anthony and Rosalia Marrazzo of Spokane and is a 1999 graduate of East Valley High School.
• Army Spec. Brian S. Hudspeth has graduated from the U.S. Army Ranger School at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Daniel Hudspeth of Davenport, Wash.

Air Force Airman Laura Carroll. She is the daughter of April Anderson and Paul Carroll, both of Spokane. She is a 2003 graduate of North Central High School.
Air Force Airman Michael L. Wilks. He is the son of Michele Wilks of Spokane and is a 2000 graduate of North Central High School.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Katie L. Carruthers She is the daughter of Janice Carruthers of Reardan, Wash. She is a 2001 graduate of University High School and a 2003 graduate of Gonzaga University.
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Tyler R. Lust. He is the son of Dan and Sandee Lust of Medical Lake and is a 2003 graduate of Medical Lake High School.
Air Force Airman Rachel N. Jackson. She is the daughter of Shirley and Michael Jackson of Valley, Wash., and is a 2003 graduate of Jenkins High School in Chewelah, Wash.
Air Force Airman Michelle Suarez. She is the daughter of Ludwin Suarez of Spokane and is a 2002 graduate of North Central High School.
