Sun outlast Shock

Nykesha Sales scored 22 points and matched a career high with 10 rebounds to lead the Connecticut Sun to a 71-67 overtime win over the Detroit Shock on Friday night in Uncasville, Conn.

Sales hit two free throws with 13.6 seconds left to send the game into overtime tied at 61. Her fallaway jumper 15 seconds into the final period kicked off an 8-0 run, and the Sun beat the Shock for their first win in the last eight meetings.

Swin Cash led Detroit with 22 points.

Fever 71, Sparks 67: At Indianapolis, Tamika Catchings scored 24 points and Indiana used late free throws to defeat Los Angeles, despite going without a field goal for the final 6 minutes.

Monarchs 61, Comets 55: At Sacramento, Calif., Yolanda Griffith had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Sacramento to a victory over Houston.
