In favor of vehicle access

The Spokesman-Review

Readers, beware of what Rich Landers writes. The July 1 column is an example. I was at the same table with Landers during NRA President Kayne Robinson’s speech. The head shaking and smirks displayed by Landers during the talk were distractions to others. It was obvious he missed the position Robinson was putting forth.

The point of the average Joe, as “the guy down at the Texaco station,” was well presented. Not everyone has the time or money to make long trips to special places to hunt. I did work at a Texaco station at one time. Back then, just as Mr. Robinson pointed out, my funds were slim and my hunting time was limited, perhaps two, half-day hunts per deer season was all I could squeeze out of a work schedule while trying to raise three children. I hunted fast and hard during those few precious hours. Today, I have lots of time on my hands and would love to spend days hiking through the mountains in search of big bucks. However, my primary progressive MS prevents me from venturing far from a vehicle. Thank goodness we have the NRA working for more vehicle access to public lands.
