Suds rise on Fox’s ‘North Shore’

Joel Brown New York Times Syndicate

New episodes on Fox tonight look better because of the reruns and such the other networks are dragging out.

On “North Shore,” at 8, “American Idol’s” Hawaiian cutie Jasmine Trias checks into the hotel. But the real action here comes when Tessa’s nasty ex takes a room and tries to pull her back into the old, bad ways.

Plus Jason is really suspicious of Morgan now that he knows Morgan works for Nicole’s father, a hotel magnate who has coveted the Grand Waimea for years.

And a romantic horse ride takes a wrong turn for M.J. and Chris.

Sure it’s soapy as heck, but summer is the time for suds.

Then on reality-TV titan Mark Burnett’s “The Casino,” at 9, we see some real resort-management problems. Co-owner Tom Breitling brings in a bevy of beauties to perform a fashion show, but they turn out to be a posse of hard-partying trouble. Up-and-coming singer Matt Dusk sets his sights on the Nugget’s main showroom, but he’s got to go through entertainment director Joe Leoni.

Highlights

Sitcom reruns, ABC at 8: “My Wife and Kids,” “George Lopez,” “According to Jim” and “Hope & Faith.” Followed at 10 by another episode of “Weddings.”

“Still Standing,” CBS at 8: Father and son have a talk about the locker room, but Brian’s problem is not what you think. Repeat.

“Fear Factor,” NBC at 8: Repeat of the two-part episode on the Las Vegas strip, followed by new episodes of the reality-TV nightmares “For Love or Money” and “Who Wants to Marry My Dad?”

“Yes, Dear,” CBS at 8:30: Greg’s dad (Tim Conway) may have an addiction: Superman. Repeat.

“Everybody Loves Raymond,” CBS at 9: Robert may have a career in modeling. Repeat.

“History Detectives,” KSPS at 9: Hollywood stories, including a movie camera that might have been used on the original “King Kong” (1933).

“Two and a Half Men,” CBS at 9:30: Alan is sleepwalking, and Jake sees a therapist in a funny repeat.

“CSI: Miami,” CBS at 10: A wannabe CSI who collects evidence — ew! — gets involved in a case. Repeat.

Family Fare

“7th Heaven,” WB at 8: Repeat. Guests Adam LaVorgna and boy-bander Lance Bass double-date with Mary and Lucy.

“Summerland,” WB at 9: Repeat. Ava’s naked picture ends up with Derrick’s friend, and Bradin considers taking it to the next level with Sarah.

Cable Cast

“Home Run Derby,” ESPN at 5: Part of the festivities leading up to Tuesday’s All-Star Game.

Keep an eye on Boston’s David Ortiz, my friends. He’s one of the league’s less celebrated sluggers, having just found his stride last season, and he’s only in the competition because teammate Manny Ramirez bowed out in his favor.

But he hits it a ton — or at least he has the past few times TV Tonight visited Fenway Park this year.

“I Love the ‘90s,” VH1 at 9: Two hours a night all week long, VH1 digs up the decade that’s barely ended. Sorry, but it seems a little too soon, although all TV columnists like remembering “Twin Peaks.”

“Baby for Sale,” Lifetime at 9: Dana Delany stars, it’s on Lifetime, and the title refers to an illegal Internet auction.
