Pirates 11, Expos 0: At San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jason Bay homered twice and Pittsburgh scored a season-high nine times in the second inning to back Sean Burnett’s first career shutout and help the Pirates to a win over Montreal.

Phillies 7, Braves 6 (10): At Philadelphia, Tomas Perez’s pinch-hit, RBI single in the 10th helped the Phillies overcome a five-run deficit and two three-run homers by Rafael Furcal to beat Atlanta.

Mets 6, Marlins 3: At Miami, Ty Wigginton homered and had an RBI double, leading New York to a victory over foundering Florida.

Reds 3, Brewers 0: At Milwaukee, Aaron Harang tied his career high with 10 strikeouts and Wily Mo Pena homered in Cincinnati’s victory over the Brewers.

Cardinals 6, Cubs 1: At St. Louis, the Cardinals got home runs from Edgar Renteria, Albert Pujols, Jim Edmonds and Tony Womack in a victory over Chicago.

Rockies 6, Padres 5: At San Diego, pinch-hitter Mark Sweeney hit a tiebreaking two-run homer off Trevor Hoffman in the ninth inning to lead Colorado to a win over the Padres.

Astros 3, Dodgers 2: At Los Angeles, Andy Pettitte outpitched former teammate Jeff Weaver and also drove in a run, and Jose Vizcaino’s tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth inning helped Houston edge the Dodgers.

Giants 8, Diamondbacks 3: At San Francisco, moments after Barry Bonds matched his major league record for intentional walks, Luis Gonzalez dropped Edgardo Alfonzo’s bases-loaded liner to left field for an error that allowed the go-ahead runs to score in the Giants’ victory over Arizona.
