Dog possibly poisoned in Yellowstone Park

Associated Press

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. – Rangers are investigating the death of a dog which exhibited symptoms similar to poisonings in Jackson Hole that have killed or sickened at least 26 dogs.

Rangers received a call from a Jackson veterinarian Thursday about a dog brought in that morning that had possibly consumed a toxic substance in Bridge Bay Campground.

The dog’s symptoms before it died at the campground were similar to those shown by ingesting Temik.

More than two dozen cases have been reported since March of dogs consuming hot dogs or meat chunks laced with Temik and found by the sides of roads and trails. At least eight dogs have died.

The poisonings are under investigation by Teton County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies.

The Bridge Bay campsite and surrounding area was thoroughly searched and nothing suspicious was found, Yellowstone officials said.
