Leader of the Yakimas

Chief Cleveland Kamiakin, the last living son of Chief Kamiakin of the Yakimas, spoke with Washington Congressman Walt Horan on June 13, 1956. Cleveland Kamiakin’s father signed the Yakima Treaty of 1855 in Walla Walla with Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens. The peace treaty forced the Palouse Indians to move to the Yakima Reservation.
